Welcome to the Lake

Where summers slow down, memories last, and the lake is always within reach.

At Solara at Waters Edge, life moves at the pace of the water. Our 100-acre property sits along the Northern shores of Lake Wabamun, offering half a mile of shoreline, forested trails, and open space to explore. It’s a place where mornings begin with coffee on the deck, afternoons are spent on the lake, and evenings end around a fire under the stars.

Our Story

For more than 70 years, this land was home to a Ukrainian Catholic children’s camp, lovingly cared for by the Ukrainian Eparchy. Known by many as God’s playground, it was a place where thousands of children grew in faith, discovered joy, and created lifelong memories by the lake. That deep-rooted history of connection, spirituality, and communityis a legacy we are  honored to carry forward. Today, Solara is being reimagined as a seasonal RV resort and future lakeside event destination — a place for families, couples, and friends to come together, slow down, and build new traditions.

Why The Name Solara

We chose the name Solara because it captures the feeling of light itself — the warmth of the sun on your shoulders, the glow of evenings around the fire, and the renewal that comes with every sunrise on the lake. The word Solara means renewal, and for us it reflects exactly what this place offers: a chance to pause, to reconnect, and to begin again.

This land has always been a place of light. For decades it was God’s playground — a retreat filled with faith, laughter, and belonging. That sense of sacred joy and renewal is something we hold onto as we shape its future. The lake itself adds another layer of meaning. Wabamun comes from a Cree word meaning mirror In that reflection, we see what Solara is meant to be — a place where families and friends see themselves more clearly, mirrored in the water, in one another, and in the memories they create together.

At its heart, Solara at Waters Edge is about more than a destination. It is a light, a mirror, and a reminder: that life is most beautiful when it slows down, when it is shared, and when it shines.
